Catechist Training Session 2003 FSC Grant Report Organization name: De La Salle Scholasticate - Vietnam |
|
Narrative description of the program and the success of the past year
| This is a 3-year catechist training program started in 2001. Every year, the trainees from remote mission points of the southmost provinces of Vietnam come to our Scholasticate to attend the catechist training workshop for the whole month of July. Since it is already a great sacrifice from them to leave their family and everyday business behind to join the program, we support them with board and lodging. This enables a holistic training with community life and prayer, spiritual sharing and accompaniment which are, in no way, less important than providing academic support. |
| Last year, with FSC Foundations grant of $ 2,000.00 we were able to
complete the last leg of the program (July 7th -August 3rd, 2003)
for 32 catechists from the provinces. The curriculum included Catechetic
Pedagogy, |
Academic Achievement
| This year everybody appreciated the program, no dropout was ever recorded.
The lecturers were most inspired by the trainees eagerness to learn, this was
reflected in the results at the final test: * 31.25% of the students achieved "Very
Good" (= 80 marks and above/100) |
End-Users Appraisal
The end-users, i.e. the parish priests, are all happy with the outcome:
"The trainees are now more competent, confident and efficient, " said
Fr. Nam from Bao Loc.
" We all highly appreciate your yearly program in Maithon. And we wish more
sessions like those for many others in this remote diocese," concluded the Head
of the Catechetic Office of Ca Mau on behalf of the 12 beneficiary parish priests.
